Holiday Trend 2012 - Seasonal Paper Products - July 2011
Holiday 2012 trend research indicates several classic styles and a few new niche trends will be debuting for the season. The classic retro look of the 50's with a traditional painterly flair featuring lots of Santas and snowmen. Text dominant designs with vintage fonts and inspiring sentiments in vibrant colors premier on natural tone backgrounds and substrates speaking to the green movement of today.

Hard edge graphic icons with textured patterns in the mix add a fun feel that lends itself beautifully to juvenile designs or contemporary styles for the trend savvy retailer. Cupcakes and candy of all imaginings are still hanging in there as a strong icon in this group.

Home decor influence is reaching into the paper products realm again with muted and rich color hues featuring a concentration of deep cherry red for the holidays. Plaid accents are giving a homey traditional feel to this style.

Some niche trends surfacing in the higher-end gift market include lots of metallics and foils with gold coming back strong. Laser cut and letterpress treatments are abundant in the higher price point market. European, British and French icons and styles feature in holiday designs for specialty assortments and programs for the retailer looking for a unique twist to add to their selections of the season.
